Ryobi High Intensity LED Flashlight (RP4400)

The Ryobi High Intensity LED Flashlight is part of Ryobi's Tek4 platform of electronic tools. As with all Tek4 tools, this flashlight is powered by a 4V Tek4 battery. You can expect up to 6 continuous hours of light per charge (and several weeks worth if you are using the light intermittently).

The impact, dust and water resistant casing is sturdy, and designed to withstand a 6' drop intact. The case is made out of impact plastic and covered with a thermoplastic rubber grip. The battery cover and the head are made of aluminum die-cast, and a metal hood holds the glass lens in place. I dropped the flashlight from an 8' height onto a concrete floor. It did a very nice impression of a ping pong ball, bouncing about; but apart from some nasty scrapes on the metal hood, the light continues to work like a charm.

At only 8 ounces in weight, just under 5" long, and about 1- 3/8" diameter, the flashlight fits comfortably in the hand, tool pouch or pants pocket. There is also a convenient belt clip. There is no on/off switch; using your thumb and forefinger you simply turn the head slightly to switch the light on or off. Works beautifully. The LED light is very bright and illuminates quite a wide area. And it does indeed illuminate up to about 100', You can expect to get around 10,000 hours from the bulb, which is an awfully long time - the equivalent of leaving the light on 8 hours a day for 1,250 days.

My only complaint is that the flashlight doesn't come with a battery or charger. Unless you opt to purchase another Tek4 tool that does come with a battery and charger, you'll need to purchase these items separately. This will set you back $12.99 for the battery and $11.99 for the charger, which makes the real price of this flashlight $44.97 (plus taxes).

I really like this flashlight. It's rugged enough to use on the job site and survive life in the toolbox; it gives a very bright, white light; and, you'll get a lot of use in between charges. Purchased along with another Tek4 tool this flashlight is great value; purchased alone it would be hard to justify the price.
